When Kate first stuck her head beneath the waves, she was enthralled by the mysterious underwater world. From the fiery corals to the devilish eels, she was absolutely captivated- and just wanted to learn more.
After a series of ocean-focussed summer camps and daydreams, Kate finally found herself studying Marine Biology & Conservation, (alongside Documentary film & photography) at Duke University. Here, she was finally able to immerse herself in the wet world. However, the more she learned, the more she found that the ocean world wasn't really as simple as some had described. Yes, the sea is full of magical beauty, splendor, and millions of species still undiscovered underneath its waves, but it's also much more delicate than you might think.
Awash with tangled fishing line, and thousands of boats fighting to feed their fish-hungry nations, the Ocean needs help.
This project is Kate's answer: to try to find answers for the future of seas, and educate others about how to treat it more responsibly.
